speckytecky Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 I've been asked to look at setting up a dedicated email account specifically for the Local Authority formal consultations with our school and specifically how easy/difficult it might be to make it a 'secure' account toward obviating the need to password protect all of the documents that flow as attachments. On the latter my gut feeling is that password protecting the documents would be a minimum but better still employ encryption proper - but how? We are on the free for education variant of O365.
timbo343 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Why not have a mail flow rule that will append the subject to say encrypt. That was if the mail flows see "Encrypt:" in the subject it will send the message encrypted. 1
speckytecky Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks @timbo343 How to set that up, how to restrict that to users selected by the Admin and being a new area for little OLD me how would it work for un-encrypting at the intended recipients end? Why not have a mail flow rule that will append the subject to say encrypt. That was if the mail flows see "Encrypt:" in the subject it will send the message encrypted.
timbo343 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Thanks @timbo343 How to set that up, how to restrict that to users selected by the Admin and being a new area for little OLD me how would it work for un-encrypting at the intended recipients end? Here's the article for message encryption https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/canitpro/2015/05/19/step-by-step-setup-and-enablement-of-office-365-message-encryption/. For those that don't have an office365 account, the message is sent with 2FA. I've tested it sending to my own gmail account and it's pretty neat how it works. 4
timbo343 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 We have it and its part of our license and we.only pay for EES.
XiJ Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Exactly what we’ve done and followed that article. So easy!
speckytecky Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Wow, thanks for the help. It's fine for me until I get to chose to Encrypt the message with O365...... and that option isn't there?
XiJ Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Sometimes it can take a while for O365 to process account changes - such as adding in rights management etc. Mine was pretty instant - 10 mins - but can take a couple of hours depending on feature you’re adding. 1
speckytecky Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Thank you fabulous fellow Edugeekers for your superb replies. Unfortunately, our current A1 subscription doesn't have the Encryption available. I raised a support ticket with Microsoft and had an almost immediate response. Subsequently, I've sent a message to our software supplier seeking a quote for a limited number of Azure RMS licenses. 1
snagrat Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 You can RMS for free by going to the subscription section and buying them 1
gshaw Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Azure RMS is definitely free on EES, ask your reseller to add them on for you. 1
Blue_Cookeh Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Has anyone got anything relatively simple I could show our staff explaining why/when to use this? Tbh it's something I know we should be using for some stuff - we just never got around to it. 1
speckytecky Posted December 6, 2017 Author Posted December 6, 2017 Despite the fabulous help given here I was struggling to set this up so, on our Admin page sent a support request to Microsoft. The response was prompt and superb. Today they ran a remote session for me and walked me through getting it active. That's what I call first class support. 10 out of 10 Microsoft.
drewp Posted December 7, 2017 Posted December 7, 2017 Do you know if you set up the "new" encryption capabilities? https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Set-up-new-Office-365-Message-Encryption-capabilities-built-on-top-of-Azure-Information-Protection-7ff0c040-b25c-4378-9904-b1b50210d00e
