Activepanel V5 Snake HDMI Lead

Hi All,

We have recently installed 4 of these in to one of my schools 3 x 75" wall mounted and 1 x 70" Mobile unit.

 

I had an issue yesterday that when the HDMI snake lead was connected to a laptop it wouldn't be picked up by the Activepanel, I by-passed it with another HDMI to test and it worked fine so for some reason I decided to reverse the original HDMI snake lead around just to test a theory whether it would work or not and it did.

 

Thinking this was a one off, I removed the HDMI lead from the snake lead and re-threaded it and connected it up to the panel and all is fine.

 

Our 70" mobile Activepanel had developed a fault and was being replaced today under warranty, the chaps from Promethean were onsite for 7:30am and had the new Activepanel mounted and in place ready for testing for when I turned up at 7:45.

 

Plugged a laptop into the HDMI snake lead and no signal so they tested with a spare HDMI and the panel worked fine so I mentioned my earlier problem and he said it shouldn't make any difference but they tried what i did and it worked.

 

Why work one way and not the other?

 

So has anyone come across this before? or is it just a bad batch of HDMI leads in the snake setup.

Weird one but we have it all set up and working and they kindly left me with a spare HDMI lead just in case.

Do you know if the cabling that you are using are the ones that Promethean supply? There are 3m leads? or have your reseller/ installers put in their own leads instead or in addition to the Promethean supplied leads?

 

It is very odd that they would work 1 way and not the other, it is possible that the "snake setup" is faulty, and one end of the HDMI is causing a larger signal drop than the other before it gets to the ActivPanel.

 

If the cabling that you are using is supplied by Promethean then you would be best contacting them via their support pages.

If it is supplied by your installer/ reseller, then you would need to contact them for them to investigate further.
