Hi All,

 

*(Sorry, I did search but some of the threads are 25+ pages now)*

 

Trying to do something reasonably simple here (or so I thought).

 

I have exported a start menu layout .xml and put it in netlogon, added a GPO to read it and all works well.

 

However there are 2 tiles missing, IE and Notepad.

 

Looking through the XML these two programs seem to be called from appdata.

 

I do have various settings locked down with GPO's and SRP's etc. So, I am wondering if I have locked this account out from being able to read those areas...?

 

 

Edit: These are not 'redirected' folders or 'roaming' profiles (just simple domain profiles on a local machine).

Are IE and Notepad in your actual Start Menu folder (redirected or otherwise)?

OK, so a little bit of digging reveals two places for start menu items (possibly more or even some kind of databse...?!).

 

I have here:

 

"C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"

 

and here:

 

"C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs"

 

The program shortcuts don't appear in the first folder location, but do appear in the second (why the .XML is pointing to appdata I guess).

 

This is the same for both the Admin and the test account though and they appear as tiles for the admin and not for the test account.
