garethEds Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Good morning, Does anyone have the driver disk iso for a HP ProLiant DL185GS? The box was given to us three years ago by the LEA and is now out of service contract so we cannot download them and we want to rebuild it to something else. I'm after 2012r2 drivers if possible. The LEA tell me they do not have the drivers. Can anyone out there help? Cheers Gareth
3s-gtech Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 What drivers are missing when you do a fresh install? I only ever found two that weren't included with the OS (iLO and ME I think) on servers of that gen - I may be able to get you our drivers if so.
garethEds Posted November 22, 2017 Author Posted November 22, 2017 No idea really @3s-gtech as I've not re-formatted the machine yet. However looking at it now I can see a RAID driver is missing from device manager. I assumed HP would be able to provide better drivers than the ones built into Windows 2012r2 - am I wrong thinking that? Cheers Gareth
3s-gtech Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Windows will provide the drivers supplied by HP to Microsoft, rather than them just being dodgy generic MS drivers (in most cases). IME, with 2012 R2 and 2016 MS have the most up-to-date drivers available through Windows Update or on the install disc for these older machines. Some drivers won't be included, I'd bet money on the iLO drivers being included in that. Which RAID card is it? I have a contemporary driver for the P400 here, though that should be included in the install.

Is there a Driver Update Utility for HP servers as there is for desktop machines? I'm tempted to build a 2016 server instead as it is meant to be a temporary HyperV store whilst I upgrade the main ones. However after reading some of the posts on here about HyperV on 2016, I'm not sure I will bother yet. Gareth
3s-gtech Posted November 22, 2017 Posted November 22, 2017 Don't know if there's a utility - I always used the massive great ISOs available through the old HP FTP site. However, I can't download a thing here now to check as our net connection seems to be based on pigeon express.
