mikeglover Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Hi, I'm trying to update Windows 10 on a vivid touch interactive board which has very limited space. From the guides I have found the Update Assistant says that 8GB are required. It goes though 2 sets of progress bars and eventually errors saying it doesn't have enough space. All though we have over 8GB free. It also says in the guide that if we have a memory stick inserted it will give the option to use the memory stick for installation purposes but there no option to select the USB drive. Could any one help. Thanks, Mike
sted Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 simplest option is probably download the iso burn it to dvd/pen drive and run it as an upgrade that way the files arnt on the c drive and so you should need less space (its probably worth running disk cleanup and seeing if you can free space up b deleting old updates etc though first)
mikeglover Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 Ah ok. I was under the impression that using the media creation tool and making a usb it would do a full clean install and not an upgrade? Can you confirm it will do an upgrade and not a clean install.
3s-gtech Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I used Rufus to create a bootable USB of 1703, with a customised WIM. This works as either a clean install or you can use it to in-place upgrade straight from setup.exe. That stick has done a lot of work this Summer.
mikeglover Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 Ok thanks all. Sadly its a school that I only see once a week for 2 hours. Will try it next time I see them.

Can you confirm it will do an upgrade and not a clean install. The MCT will do an upgrade if you run the Setup.exe program from within Windows itself.
