Hi,

I've got a Zoostorm Pc, i7 8GB RAM ASUS Q170M-C Motherboard and its possessed!

When it try's to install updates or software nothing happens then randomly it BSOD's.

Tried flattening it and re installing the OS but it will either BSOD during installation or after installation when trying to do windows updates.

Checked the RAM and even moved slots (single stick of RAM)

Run memtest86 - no errors!

Updated BIOS still BSOD

Tried with or without SSD drive

anyone else got any suggestions of what I could try?

If your getting BSOD during OS installation then it's not going to be driver related, I'd look at RAM then power supply. Memtest is more accurate over time, if you can leave it running overnight that should give you a good indication of the health of the RAM. I have had a slightly dodgy mains cable cause BSOD before so it's also worth swapping it for another.

^^Extremely unlikely with an Intel CPU, they can tolerate running very hot and they just downclock until they're stable again. They cope with heat very well generally.

Have a look at things like the PSU, VRM caps around the CPU (unlikely to be a problem, they're most likely solid caps) and whether than RAM needs more voltage for the speed it's running at (many are rated at 1.5v, but default is 1.35v).
