I am temporarily supporting a CC4 network until it is rebuilt to a Windows Vanilla network.

One request is for a single computer to have the facility to switch user, rather than having to log out.

Is this possible to set through the RM Management Console?

Your only option is to look at the Computer policies in RMMC and see if you can create a new policy that does what you need.

RM doesn't behave very well when you try to do different things. Worse case you can look at the GPOs directly.

My previous workplace was CC4.3 (Win 7) and both the IT team and Premises team used Fast User Switcher, simply copy the .exe to the C Drive and a shortcut placed on the default desktop. Don't believe you can do it from the RMMC policies if I remember correctly but never had much issue using FUS for the odd one or two PC's with only a few people accessing them.

Not sure why you would want a machine to switch users ...vaguely useful for a shared desktop I suppose....

I find a virtual pc useful to use as a student workstation to test stuff....hadn’t thought of switching instead...

Come into a room to find a teacher has everything open for the lesson. I need to login as an admin to make a simple change, maybe install some USB hardware, and you want to log the teacher fully off to do that?!

FUS does come with a few headaches - granted this cannot be done through RMMC, but through a standard GPO. One thing to remember this that it can through issues on applications which run on start up, like a papercut client apparently. BTW we haven't set up FUS here, but was talking with a nearby school (CC4.5) last week who implemented it and possibly will remove it again lol.
