Hope you find something, my only other suggestion would be proc mon and watch for the read/write times and watch for a pattern. But that would be fun...

Have you used wireshark to look for nasty packets or a flood of data coming from a unknown device?

Do you have Smoothwall? I noticed recently that if you do large file transfers and smoothwall is set as your DFG it causes massive lag spikes on the LAN. Edit.. Also do you use Panda? The update has killed machines lateley

I had issues with smoothwall and multiple domains where users would be unauthentic and set as default depending on how it felt. What is your authentication method in Web Proxy > Authentication > Manage Polices for the proxy IP and port you are using? Is it NTLM or Negotiate? Also check Authentication Service logs in the log area for any weird domain issues and Services > Authentication > User Activity to see if any users are authenticating and which method. One of our primary schools has a significant amount of trapeze AP's running on a cloud controller (external company). No budget available for a new wireless provision so trying to make do. Anyone know where a physical or virtual trapeze WLAN controller can be acquired?

Thank you for the advice, I managed to sort it out. Ended up it was trying to save to the full user path instead of the user share and causing some read write errors. Learned something today!

No AppData isnt redirected, I am using UE-V instead of roaming profiles but I didn't think that would make a difference.

Afternoon, I am having a battle with Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 on vanilla Windows 10 1809 fully upto date. I can install it just fine with SCCM and it works fine as a normal user (no UAC prompt) however when it loads I receive the error. "There is a problem with Generator, Please quit Photoshop and try again" Ive been through every adobe message board post I can find but it doesn't generate error logs. Ive had procmon and procexplorer on the go and dug into the depths of the unknown and allowed access to all the files and registry it attempts to read/write. But alas it still doesn't work for a normal user who are not a domain admin or a local admin of the machine. Has anyone gotten the latest version of Photoshop working on a domain that still has UAC enabled? Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Chris

Sorry to resurrect a old thread. Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Im having the exact same issue with quite a few boards and pcs.

Your only option is to look at the Computer policies in RMMC and see if you can create a new policy that does what you need. RM doesn't behave very well when you try to do different things. Worse case you can look at the GPOs directly.

Afternoon all, Were having a nightmare at the moment with mag locks on our behaviour corridor. We have 2 doors with paxton readers on both sides and the ACU's are directly connected to the fire panel so in the event of a fire alarm the doors disengage. No reliance on any software just cables. The issue is the pupils from day 1 would press the emergency release glass in to "escape". Which then resulted in a cat and mouse game with IT, caretakers and teachers resetting the doors every 30 mins. We then purchased squealers as a deterrent and as you would expect they just lift them up and press the emergency exit button. Its gotten so bad that the buttons now cant be reset without taking them off the wall, the pupils have pushed them in hard to many times. I suppose my question is do we need the emergency glass if theirs a fire alarm point in the same corridor? I appreciate this a behaviour issue but that's a different post for another day.... I was at a MS conference about GDPR and this question was raised. Wolly answer time but the jist was that if you cant say what user X has done with your data or cant justify your taking steps towards implementing a solution you are not complaint. We can no longer live in ignorance I suppose we will know more once clearer guidelines for schools are published.

As part of the bigger plan were looking into fully auditing file access on O365 and on prem using some third party tools. Regarding pen drives were working towards forcing all staff pen drives to be either hardware or software encrypted. Also blocking dropbox, gmail etc and only allowing authorised email accounts which we can monitor, audit and if needed shutdown All these things are in our control!

Cheers for the responses, Im not surprised to be honest. Its saddening that all sys admins and data officers are going to be in the same place next May. Id be very surprised if Capita manage to launch a new solution and get all schools on board before the deadline. I've had experience with Capita based cloud solutions, its not a a day I look forward to.

Afternoon guys, Apologies if this has already been brought up. At our school were beginning our road to GDPR compliance and ive come across a sticking point. Like 86% of schools in England we use Capitas Sims as our MIS and central data store. All data is keyed into it and all third parties (Groupcall, etc.) extract from it on scheduled tasks. To become fully compliant with GDPR we must be able to not only prevent data breaches but also track them. After preliminary speaking to Capita it appears there's no inbuilt data auditing in Sims. It only logs when a user logs on, not what they look for or view. I appreciate there's third party ways of using database triggers etc. but they are not supported by Capita. To be honest this scares me, we cant even start to be GDPR compliant if our central data solution doesn't do any auditing. Has anyone already dealt with this? I am aware that Capita are pushing a new web based platform called "Sims Primary" that has full auditing, surely they cant expect all schools to move over to a new solution instead of fixing the current one?
