Repaired laptop has something left under cover. Problem?

Daughter just sent me a photo of her lenovo yoga that was sent away for a screen replacement.

 

When it came back, she powered it up and it became obvious that something ... probably paper... has been left in it.

 

Is this a fire risk? She is not home for the next couple of months and is based in Southampton so there’s nothing I can do about it.

I wouldn’t of see it as a fire risk. May get warm but not enough to catch. Looks like it’s away from the connectors.

 

Could be wrong.

It was repaired under an accidental damage policy by an insurer’s company. She’s been without it for the best part of a month and isn’t keen to have to send it back.

 

She’s wondering if the dark bits are stickers and there’s some sort of light leakage causing the rectangle

Some LCD screens give light out the back, it kinda looks like that.

Maybe the screen before had something to block the light and the new one doesn’t.

The orange case is horrible, but that colour was cheapest ... clearly not popular. As a cash strapped student she went for a colour she hated to save cash

Fire risk ?? hell no. It will be the design of the replacement screen that has an unmasked section of the back that is lighting up the cover, they are not usually transparent like this lenovo is.

The front bezels are easy enough to pop off to expose the screen and see if you can overlay something to mask it off so its not so in your face. If it was me id probably try and enhance it a little to create an trendy image / message of your choice.

I was just going to say the same thing! It doesn't look like paper, it looks like the back of the screen as the small rectangles are normally the part/model numbers of the screen (we repair/replace our own screens here) and there should be some aluminium backing on it so you dont see it all lit up like a Christmas tree from the backlight.

 

I'd get in touch with whoever repaired it ASAP and send them a photo as it's not been done correctly.

Definitely looks like the back of the screen.

 

It's not normally an issue for most laptops. When we replace a screen in a Dell for example the back of the replacement screen looks exactly like the one shining through the orange.

It's not an issue on a laptop with a good solid cover, but this orange skin looks to be pretty thin.

 

I'd bet that for this laptop there's a version of the screen with the cover and it's more expensive so the repairer just used the exact same model without the cover to save on cost.

Usually no problem but a bit rubbish in this instance.

Looks like an issue with the case more so than with the screen, as others have mentioned, it's likely the engineer forgot to place back in a "shield" at the back. Nothing too concerning just looks ugly.
