dgsmith Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Still looking at SIP trunks - but I've worked out we can save approx £130-150 per month once we move over to SIP Trunks etc. - Had two quotes so far - TTG and the company who maintain our aging analogue system - and looking for a 3rd, which may possible be our current call provider. Once I've got all 3 quotes it will be up to management to decide who they use. We went with spitfire (good pricing), but also looked at BT (also good pricing, but want to be the ISP too) and Gamma (who at the time didn't support 3CX, but I believe now do).
DrCheese Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Did spitfire put a secondary connection in for you? They aren't keen on us running over our main link (Tho it's cityfibre at 1gb up/down & I'm probably getting a backup 350mb/20mb soon)
TTG_Alice Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 @TTG_Alice I've been speaking to Jonathan and all things being well, I'll be coming to Jonathan for the 3CX License. I had TTG quote for the full install but due to budgets, management asked me to do as much as I can Once I've got all 3 quotes it will be up to management to decide who they use. Hello @mdrabble. If you could give Jonathan a call, I'm sure he'll be able to work with your budget. Edugeek members get a special deal with us
DGardiner Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 weve just installed a hosted 3CX with just shy of 100 handsets, we went with T40G's for basic phones since they have gig passthrough and T48S' for call handling phones. only been in 3 weeks but people seem happy! anyone wanna buy a stack of avaya ipoffice phones?

Neither have any problems with that setup. Admittedly, sometimes you don't always know who's at fault when the line quality goes down (usually ISP related though!), however in terms of running spitfire over another provider there are no problems; it was just BT that insisted on being the ISP if providing SIP. We also opted to get a PSTN line through spitfire too so if there is an issue with the SIP or ISP, we can still call out (albeit a different number displayed). weve just installed a hosted 3CX with just shy of 100 handsets, we went with T40G's for basic phones since they have gig passthroug We have just put a phone in every classroom now, adding 20 to our existing 40ish extensions. The T40Gs are fantastic value for money, look great and with gig too you can't grumble. Stylish and affordable.
Jobos Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 I would be interested in hearing how much you are paying for your VoIP systems? This school moved to VoIP 2 years ago and with a hosted system using Orbtalk. We have 13 lines and pay £7 per line per month with calls extra charged at 1 pence per minute.
localzuk Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 We pay £300ish per year per server running 3CX, phones are about £80 each, and we pay £10.99 per VOIP trunk (1 trunk per school, offers unlimited simultaneous calls in and out) with Voip-Unlimited, plus calls (rates vary by destination). All in all, quite cheap!

m25man Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Cloudcall is used at two of our call centre clients. They have 20 IP phones and use the same BT Leased line used for the Internet. Switches/Firewall all use QOS and reserved bandwidth. They get UK calls free, UK mobiles cheaper and some Overseas numbers reduced all in the package. As Recruiters they spend all day on the phones with a vast amount of calls made to overseas mobiles. Now with no PBX, Licenses or Line rentals to pay for just VoIP handsets to buy they pay on average £1000 per month and think that’s good? I personally use SipGate Basic at home on Virgin Broadband cost nothing at all and as I have a zillion minutes every month on the mobile very rarely make an outbound call on my VoIP line so £10 credit keeps it happy. I’ve finally got around to binning my BT line after paying £67 per quarter for years and years.
TTG_Alice Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I had no issue with 3CX when I tested it, problem I had was getting info on SIP Trunks, Spitfire didn't even get back to me and then internal decisions didn't want me to DIY it... Sorry that you haven't hear back from Spitfire. Give us a shout if you need some help and assistance with your SIP trunks
caffrey Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I'm tempted to look back into it, but powers that be are adamant that it shouldn't be done in house - irony of the hosted solution we've been quoted for is that I'll be managing it anyway so it's still the same problem
mdrabble Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 In terms of "Night Service mode" I take it you set the Out of Hours times on the SIP trunk etc and then point them to a recorded msssage prompting to leave a message etc... If we wanted to be able to manually turn "Night Service" on and off - how this this best done?
mavhc Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I like this quote: "SIP trunks are totally imaginary products dreamt up by the telecommunication industry as a way of charging you and providing nothing"

If we wanted to be able to manually turn "Night Service" on and off - how this this best done? There are a couple of ways to do this. firstly you can pre-code the phones to automatically push out the night service and pull it back in using the same code (which is probably the quickest) Secondly in the digital receptionist tab, within the admin portal, this will allow you to edit the night service message settings ie. timings I hope that is helpful

I setup the phone code but i wasnt putting adding 1 or 2 to switch between the hours
