They operate a small to medium sized campus and have an in-house IT team who provide first class support to students and school staff. The new post holder will ideally have 2-3 years experience supporting school networks in a similar capacity and be comfortable with providing day to day technical support to large user bases. Experience in the educational sector is highly desirable for this role. The Network Officer will take overall responsibility for managing and supporting the school’s IT systems, ensuring that they are reliable and that appropriate service levels are maintained. What the role involves: · Providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support services to staff and pupils and ensuring an accurate incident log and reporting function is maintained Supporting, monitoring, maintaining and managing a wide range of technical systems associated with the School’s IT infrastructure · Liaising with stakeholders, suppliers and vendors during new project management and technical query resolution · Carrying out audits and quality assurance of the IT systems, and reporting findings back to the Director of IT to identify areas for improvement · Ensuring all licensing, warranties and documentation is up to date and compliant with legal and IT policy requirements · Undergoing up skilling and training as required; whilst also delivering training materials to support staff · Coordinating out of hours support for scheduled and emergency scenarios to ensure down time is kept to a minimum · Monthly reporting to the IT Director to assess the overall performance of the IT infrastructure In addition to the above, you will be working closely with the Director of IT and key stakeholders to appropriately specify new systems and services in line with teaching and learning requirements. What we identify as the key skills and experience required for the role: Technical: ● Strong knowledge of current IT best practice, standards, and statutory requirements, particularly within educational environments · Good all-round experience with filtered web access, data storage, email services, networked printing, backups, and various software packages used within learning and development ● VMware Virtualisation experience, including servers, storage and backups ● Network/IP services experience such as DHCP, DNS, LDAP, wireless, and VPN’s ● Adept with MS Office Suite and it’s use within education ● Windows and iOS systems management, software, services and deployment · Active Directory infrastructure set up experience ● Knowledge of Firewalls, filtering and safeguarding within a large user environment Person Specification: Able to strategically analyse complex issues, make informed judgments and take appropriate actions when required · Good leadership qualities - able to lead and motivate others in the workplace and ensure a collaborative effort is delivered ● Strong communication skills – able to discuss and explain technical issues to non-technical users and stakeholders ● Willing to learn new technologies outside of traditional practice based on the strategic requirements and with a keen interest in evolving hardware technologies and make recommendations on how they should be incorporated into the School · Demonstrable awareness concerning safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in the workplace is also important Employment Benefits: · 25 Days Annual Leave rising to 30 days after two years’ service.
