DanHamilton Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Hi, I am updating our programs on SCCM but unfortunately, there are a few programs that only give you the .EXE file. We, unfortunately, do not own the full version of PDQ Deploy... Very cheeky to ask but if anyone owns this then would someone create me an MSI from the latest EXE? Or if knows of freeware that will allow you to complete the entire conversion and take advantage of each setting during the MSI then please share a link. I seriously hate having to install Python to the ICT Suites each time when we used to be able to deploy the old version via the PXE Boot and annoyingly Ninite have not even updated the version they provide. Still only supporting the legacy version of Python. Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Dan
KibosJ Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 We install it using the exe file in SCCM, it can be done without requiring an MSI file.
Steve21 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Why aren't you just using the exe feature in SCCM? Steve
DanHamilton Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 I will test this ... because it was never put on there I had never even considered this. About to go on a few days leave so hopefully get it working when I am back. Thanks for the silly eye opener! https://docs.python.org/3/using/windows.html Found the command line information.

Here i run python-3.6.3-amd64.exe /layout /quiet to get all of the offline files and then run python-3.6.3-amd64.exe python-3.6.3-amd64.exe /quiet InstallAllUsers=1 AssociateFiles=1 PrependPath=1 Include_launcher=1 InstallLauncherAllUsers=1 Include_tcltk=1 1
DanHamilton Posted October 23, 2017 Author Posted October 23, 2017 Thank you all Have been away but this is working now with both PDQ Deploy and MDT / PXE.
localzuk Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Can I ask how people have got this working? I have run python-3.6.3 /layout and got all the extra bits, and put them in the SCCM content folder for the deployment. I've crafted an unattend.xml file and put that in there too. If I manually run the install by creating a shortcut pointing to the files, it all works fine. If I deploy it, it fails with error 0X87D00324 - which apprently means it thinks it was successful but the detection method failed (as the files haven't actually installed at all). Event log has 2 MsiInstaller related events - the start and finish of an attempt to install "core.msi".
Ditto Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Accepted with the right knowledge, exe's can be pushed out, why are there MSI's on http://www.python.org for some releases and not others? Does anyone know what the most recent MSI available is for v3 and v2 of Python and when 3.6.3 would expect to have a MSI available?
Lagoya Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Hi, I have been following the instructions here as I am having a nightmare trying to deploy Python 3.6.4 through MDT I am able to run the following command successfully but... It installs it into Users/appdata instead of C:\program files. Is there any way to stipulate the install location in the command line? Any help would be much appreciated. python-3.6.4.exe /quiet InstallAllUsers=1 AssociateFiles=1 PrependPath=1 Include_launcher=1 InstallLauncherAllUsers=1 Include_tcltk=1
