University College School (UCS) is one of the leading independent day schools in the UK. Operating as three linked schools sites in Hampstead, it educates 1200 students from age 3 to 18 across three sites. The main aims of the school are the pursuit of academic excellence with a strong ethos of independent thought and individual judgment and Education Support Professionals has been retained to source their next Head of ICT.

 

The role of Head of IT is to be responsible for the strategic development and daily management of effective ICT systems including hardware and software. To manage ICT personnel and effective liaison with all stakeholders. To compile and manage the ICT budget ensuring best value in all purchases. To ensure compliance in all areas of ICT and Data Protection.

 

To qualify for this position you will still haver excellent technical skills, be adept at running a VMWare and/or HyperV environment, EMC SAN, VLANS, Fibre and managing Cisco switches and layer 3 networks and Windows. You may also have skills in SQL commands, Linux, SIMS internally hosted, Firefly, 365, google apps, Mac server and iMacs, chromebooks, ipads, voip telephony, meraki and a host of other education specific softwares and hardwares

 

You will also have strong management experience, leading the service, providing all necessary training and helping the network manager direct a well-grounded ICT team across the 3 sites. Working closely with the Headmaster, Deputy Heads and other key senior teaching staff to work collaboratively to devise and deliver the ICT strategy. You will report directly into the Director of Operations, have governance and have full budget responsibility.

 

You may have qualifications including VCP, CCNA, ITIL (fits), Prince 2, MCP, MCSE etc but these need to be backed up with relevant and recent practical experience. You will be the ultimate technical authority within the school.
