TwistedHelixis Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Hello, We have a shared (All staff) photos & videos folder in Google drive that probably makes more sense to be in Team Drives, and I just wanted to make sure it was as simple as moving the folder from Drive to Team Drives, or are there any issues I should be aware of? Thanks
FN-GM Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Users can't delete files unless you also give them the ability to invite other people. You also can't share sub folders yet. 1
mjk Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 It's an entirely impractical way to share things with people who are not a member of the group: Think carefully about how you organise groups - departments will want to share things like schemes of learning with management, and work with students. The traditional Drive is more suited to this type of application. Putting something into the team drive changes the ownership to that of the team drive - be careful about moving entire folders because it's easy to remove permissions from the owner (as admin). I recall something about links changing to documents (eg on your learning platform) you need to re-write the links. I can't remember if this affected documents or just folders. 1
PrimaryNetMan Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Can't change permissions on folders within drive. No email as option on docs etc.

jmak Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Users can't delete files unless you also give them the ability to invite other people. To workaround this, I created a folder in each TeamDrive called Recycling Bin. Not a proper solution, but does at least give users somewhere to move files to once they're not required any more. There is a feature suggestion for this which you could upvote: https://www.cloudconnect.goog/ideas/9507 There's also one about folder sharing permissions which is currently the top of the list: https://www.cloudconnect.goog/ideas/8668 You never know, someone at Google might read them...
