Adding Different Language options/keyboard layouts for standard domain users

Hi

 

I have managed to add a selection of keyboard layouts for our standard domain users with a registry edit applied with a GPO. This allows our users to select the language they want to type in from the menu in the notifications bar. The languages that just worked are Russian, French and Spanish, but when I add the registry value for Chinese simplified it wont appear in the list.

 

Does anyone have an idea as to why Chinese does not appear even after being set in registry????

Hi am trying to allow keyboard settings for ENG and Spanish but i've found each user has to download the keyboard language for the switching icon to show in the icon tray but obviously students cant do this as control panel is blocked.

can i ask how you have done this?

Hi,

 

I used Group Policy.

 

User Configuration, Preferences, Windows Settings, Registry

 

I added a keyboard layout.

 

Attached is a screenshot of the settings needed for Spanish

 

 

If you need anymore information on this I would be happy to help it took me months to get a solution for this issue.

I've been at it for 2 weeks... lucky my office has no windows.

Yay thankyou! 50% there I've turned on control panel access to see whats happening for this test exam user and can now see that within language options there's English and Spanish. But i still cant see any bar or dock switch icon. There must be another setting.

What version of windows are you useing we are on 10

Another setup that we have is allowing access to the language settings in the windows settings app. There is a way to only allow certain settings.

 

This again is done with a reg edit with GPO

 

Here is an example of what our student see

Try nuking the profile after you've setup the keyboard settings. It was the magic bullet for me on several occasions.

Steve, was that for my one? If so you'll need to nuke all the users. The profile needs to be created after the settings applied for the language bar to display

Reg edit key path is (SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer)

This will only allow the language settings to diplay on the Windows 10 settings page. Make sure that the GPO for blocking access to winodws settings page is not set.

ive removed the local profile though and its not showing for my test user now..

I've re allowed the control panel and can see both language options are there, so must need another setting?

yay thats worked ticked the option for show when available but still something missing sooo close
