Since updating to windows 10 we have 10 of the mentioned laptops that have distorted sound (high definition audio driver) and no vga drivers available, is using the Basic VGA driver ok to use for basic office and internet usage? I've tried numerous drivers for the audio with no luck any help would be very much appreciated!

Good god those things are ancient - threw away a fair few of those over the years from the old Laptops for Teachers deployments! Surprised you're getting 10 to run on them at all without hassle. I suspect you'll have no real luck with drivers but if you really insisted then you could probably get away with using Windows Vista drivers.

Thanks, throw away isn't really an option (poor school) the vista graphics drivers cause it to blue screen, wondering if the basic display driver was ok to use, it's the sound that's the biggest problem! Thanks anyway

Basic driver will be fine albeit slow, but any full driver wouldn't exactly speed it up anyway (SIS if I recall correctly probably with a max allocatable 32MB of ram).

Sometimes you need to weigh up the pros and cons of a new OS before upgrading for the sake of it. We didn't update to 10 this year purely on the fact we had a load of AMD processors that wouldn't run 10 without a little hacking and wasn't worth the hassle. Especially for a "poor school"; don't expect to run new software on old hardware!

99% sure you won't get close to a better display driver than you already have - SiS's driver support was poor when they were still a going concern. It's a shame, because a contemporary laptop with Intel, AMD or Nvidia graphics would be fine still. The basic driver is not that bad in Windows 10, but don't expect much from any vido playback and even scrolling full screen can be glitchy.
