difinity Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I recently purchased a lifetime supply of Chemtronics 80-4-5 desoldering braid and I thought I'd share the love. This is some of the best braid money can buy and is suitable for BGA and through hole work. I have at least 3 to give away with free UK postage. Any takers ? Please don't just say yes because it's free, say yes because you will use it. It's to for those who work in a teaching establishment or for those that do electronics as a hobby. Depending on the interest this won't be first post first served. 1
Andycat Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Yes please, do AV/Theatre stuff here too so quite a bit of soldering!
bald_pig Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 I wouldn't mind some, I do a lot of soldering in and out of school!
ITBadger Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 If there's still some going i'd be interested as we do like to get busy with the iron on things from pen drives to guitar pickups. Anything that staff have broken / sat on basically!
Joanne Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 It absolutely is the best thing ever. I've got some copper braid and it's mint.
Garacesh Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Ooh never even heard of desoldering braid but I think I'm going to have to pick some up! Looks useful for when I invariably screw up a joint.. (Not going to ask for a roll of it since I only have one little project to work on coughlightsabercough.. I'll just buy a dinky one off Amazon or something)
SteveM555 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Id also be grateful if there is any left
crc-ict Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 I'd love some if there is still any going. Do a lot of hobby project soldering at home, and also a fair bit in school. Love repairing things me!

Andycat Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Nice photo, do they have you soldering water pipes with that big butane torch ? Now and then, yes.... but it's mainly to scare the kids off! 2
jthompson Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 That takes me back to my childhood! That's what we used to use as contacts on our Scalextric cars. It was particularly useful for the stock cars that could spin around 180 degress and drive the other way (they needed extra long contacts).

Joanne Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 It's good isn't it @Andycat ? I used it to remove DC Jacks from motherboards. I've almost gone through an entire roll.
