Is it possible to convert BNC to VGA to use a normal monitor?

It's similar to the BNC to VGA adaptor we had to get when our DVR decided to kill it's VGA output

BNC is just a type of connector. It could be used for different types of video signal, network etc.. Might help if you let us know what the piece of equipment is that is outputting over BNC.
