Hello,

We've just deployed Office 2016 as part of our summer programme, and now students have started using the software in anger, we've discovered that when they click on File > Save As they now have the option to Save to their desktop folder:

I can't seem to find any option to remove this folder from within Office itself, does anyone know if this can be done via the GPO's? I've had a look but cant seem to find the option if it is!

The students can also see their User Area, which is fine, but I don't want students to save to their desktop folder as that's on the local machine and they will lose their files.

Thanks in advance.

If you deny write permissions to Dekstop, it shouldn't show up. We redirect student desktops to a single network folder which is locked down, so they can't alter it at all. No speed issues. Doesn't show up as a save location.

Afternoon, sorry to bump an old thread but it is relevant. We are using windows 10 1709 and office 2016. We have a redirected desktop and children/staff cannot save to desktop, but under save as in office 2016 it is still there. Any ideas? The permissions are set as read and execute for pupils.
