CommodoreS Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I have the latest 1703 of Windows 10 and the latest version of Adobe Reader DC. On machines this error is appearing: An app default was reset An app caused a problem with the default app setting for .pdf files, so it was reset to Microsoft Edge. Does anyone know of a way I can stop Microsoft Edge from hijacking PDF file associations and get it to default to Adobe Reader DC without any issues please?
snagrat Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Use the file association GPO and xml to set it to Abobe https://4sysops.com/archives/default-file-associations-in-windows-10/ 2

GPPs were great for this [emoji20]
Lide98 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Hi, there is another solution for you to disable PDF reader in Microsoft Edge: go to settings -> apps -> default apps -> Choose default apps by file type. You will see the default app is arranged with the file type accordingly. To change it, just click Edge and change the PDF reader as Adobe Reader DC or else.
rsalois Posted August 2, 2018 Posted August 2, 2018 It is happening to me all the time when the microsoft updates are coming in. I understand for what reason yet I guess no one would argue that it's kind of rude of them to promote their product in such agressive manner. That's why I switched to the online pdf editor - if you can't fight them, avoid them. But nevertheless, I had macbook as my device for work purposes and there I'm quite satisfied to not to experience anything like that
