[sims] Aspect description in Individual Report

For next academic year my school are moving to a KS3 reporting system where each subject identifies key statements that pupils are assessed against each half term. I have looked at using the Programme of Study part of SIMS to track this but creating individual reports from these seems very complicated as we will not be using the built in statements.

 

As an alternative I was going to create individual aspects for each statement and collate these in a marksheet. Is there any way to pull out the aspect descriptions (the actual statements) in to the individual report? I can only get the grades to come through and if I can't do this automatically it will mean copying each statement in to the aspect description, and then again in to the individual report.

 

Hope that makes sense and someone can help clear this up either as something that can be done, or definitely can't!

Hmm, I don't think it's easy to do. There have been workarounds.

 

It depends if you want a choice of statements per aspect or just one statement IF that aspect is used.

 

I think you can pull in aspect name and maybe the aspect description but the lengths are limited. I forget what choices are available for merge fields.

 

A workaround could involve some kind of logic in the template to convert a grade to a comment or at least show/hide the relevant one.

 

Another might be to have a table with the aspect mark causing a tick in the relevant comment. But this tries on teachers not marking more than one applicable statement.

 

Can't the PoS section have bespoke statements?

 

Another option might be to use Profiles and comment banks.

You can customise the PoS statements if that helps.
