Individual Report question

Hello all,

 

it's been a while since I had to set up a full individual report template with teachers' comments, and I'm sure it's really easy to do but I'm stuck at the moment.

 

I've inherited a template with teachers' comments, it is in effect one table with 2 rows per subject, 1 row for the progress and effort grades, the second for the teachers' comments, as below.

 

English Progress: <> Effort: <>

 

Comments:

• <>

• <>

 

Mathematics Progress: <> Effort: <>

 

Comments:

• <>

• <>

 

 

We've got students' reports to go out, to be printed double-sided. Due to the length of some comments, some students have an even number of pages, some uneven number of pages, and sometimes a student's report gets printed on the back of another student's report (does this make sense?).

 

I vaguely remember about report sections, but the problem is that all reports have a legend/key table at the bottom of the report, giving details of the progress and effort grades.

 

How do I ensure that all reports start on a new page?

I'm assuming you're talking about SIMS...

 

This problem should not occur at all, when you select 'Print' it sends each pupil's report as an individual file to your printer. I've actually just spent the day working with double-sided printing Individual Reports of differing page lengths, and have not come across this issue.

Thanks Jdsa, yes it's Sims (I tagged it, but did not pull through?)

 

I forgot to mention the tiny but all important detail that due to secure printing via uniflow, we export to PDF, combine all pdfs, then print. If I print straight from Sims, I would have to authorise every single report.

 

Maybe someone knows a workaround the secure uniflow printing?

Why is your data manager's printer going through Uniflow? It will probably be easier to bypass that system or connect to the printer directly without networking. This is more a question of does Uniflow meet that person's business requirements than a technical issue with SIMS.

For a short-term bodge I would add blank lines onto the end of the report template, experimenting until I could be sure that all reports would print two pages with none spilling onto three. (@CAM is probably right long-term, but of course your hands might be tied or not have enough time.)
