I've got several old (2010) MacBook and iMacs here and they really could do with an SSD upgrade as we use the for video editing and they're a bit on the slow side.

Anyone done this before and has good results? Can I just buy a Sandisk SSD and slap it in. Mac newbie here!!! They didn't come with an O/S installation DVD! :S

Use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the HDD to your SSD attached via USB. Then crack them open and swap the drives. Very easy on the Macbooks, but the iMacs will need sucker pads for the screen covers as well as a bunch of Torx bits. Not hard to do, just go steady and be careful. I upgraded all 43 of our Macs like this - the Mac Minis are the worst (special tools and complete disassembly required for 2014 models).
