3D Printers - Advice, Recommendations, Suppliers etc

Our Design Technology Department are looking to purchase a 3D printer, therefore I would appreciate some feedback / advice / experiences from other schools who may have one (or more...)

 

The UP 2 plus printer has been mentioned, but the Ultimaker 2+ is currently preferred by departmental staff.

 

Recommended suppliers (loan units?) would also be advantageous, as well as pros / cons of features, maintenance and running costs.

My old school purchased one a few years ago. It could make a duck by default. 10 ducks got printed over the first 6 months. As far as I know, it was never used since because no-one in D&T had the knowledge to create 3D models, and it wasn't offered in IT/Computing anywhere to be learnt by the students.

To be honest I am not sure what they are planning on using it for; but I know there is a requirement for it (as their laser printer is constantly used too...)

 

I think it may be for this....
