printing to copiers (authentication)

as modern apps on w10 (like photo viewer etc) dont seem capable of printing without causing issues to a copier with a code im wondering if adding the copier (its usually a konica but depends on the school) to active directory would be a better / less problematic solution. what i want to know is if i use ad to authenticate on the copier whos printing what can i still make them go to the copier and log in to print their junk rather than it just churning out the moment its sent and if so i assume they will be required to type in their full ad username password (or possibly be able to select from a dropdown but id not of thought that would work)

 

ive seen papercuts do this with card sin 1 school but most schools arnt going to shell out for that (ive tried various times just to cut down on wasted paper but they wont bite) and the 1 school i have that uses that its part of the copier contract and the company wanted silly money to move it to a new server so i ended up virtualising the old server which i could of lived without

request your licence file and get the installers from the paper cut site... they shouldn't be holding you to ransom for software YOUVE paid for.

 

 

the amount of waste is stops and the added peace of mind of print release is worth the cost, maintenance is optional after the first year but if you ever renew you have to pay up from when your support ended? or so my supplier told me
