lbradley Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Hi, I know many of you working in Education will have PSFinancials and are probably using the cloud hosted solution, we host PSF on site and having a few issues with the Portal side of things buffering constantly for about 5-10 seconds. I was just wondering if you guys using the cloud have had similar issues in the past? I'm not the greatest person with IIS so don't even know where to start really in trying to get this problem resolved. Any advice on IIS performance improvements or ways to speed the PSF system up when using the MyPortal side of things would be appreciated. Can't be an issue with the Servers, we're running it on it's own SQL Server with 16gbRam and using 8 virtual processors. In total there are 5-15 users using it at one time. We run the Sentinel system on a different server, that just handles all the emailing and things. Thanks guys.
Dom_ Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 We have the same issue with the portal (hosted on site), PSF have consistently said it's our server setup and refused to go any further (although, like you - it's hosted on it's own dedicated server - same spec as yours). We only have 1-2 users on the portal and it's always the same. Had the exact same thing at my other school that used PSF but they've ditched it now in favour of HCSS. 1
Meldrew Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Can you clarify buffering constantly? We're self hosted. I can get the portal login page immediately, but then it takes as you mention 5-10 seconds to login. After that its about a second to load a new page... Meldrew

Meldrew It's as you said mate, logging in takes 5-10 seconds, every page is 2-5 seconds maybe. Reports are probably the worst though, seems to be the longest to load. PSF obviously point to our Servers not being able to cope, strange how we have no issues with any other 3rd party Web Based Software.
Michael Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Curious why you're all self hosted in the first place? Why didn't you opt for the cloud version or have you even evaluated the cloud version?

Michael Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 Exactly It's not a good enough reason in my view. Not believing in something and giving justifications as to why are two different things!

Well I know why, but that's a different story. Anyway, to Meldrew, they've recommended we update the MyPortal Software. I'll let you know if it improves anything, thanks for the advice.
_queeg500 Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 We moved our PSF instance from on-premise to "cloud"... only to discover that "cloud" actually means some virtual host to which you connect via Remote Desktop. All that money wasted on this "upgrade" and yet our bursar is withholding Portal access from staff because "then people would just order things".
