Ravening_Wolf Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 If any of you remember this 80s cartoon series it is being released in June. I've had Play notify me for its release. It is for the kids of course Play.com (UK) : Mysterious Cities Of Gold (6 Discs) : DVD - Free Delivery There is only one correct response to this post; Yay!
Bromcom_John Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I cannot believe that in a thread about 80's cartoons that no-one has yet mentioned.. Around the world in 80 days, with Willy Fogg!! Another one with a classic feem toon. ps. Not as good as Cities of Gold though, that was classic! Got the tune stuck in my head now too..
RichCowell Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I've been a fan of reminiscing about the classic 80's cartoons for many years... Anyone that's near me long enough to hear my phone ring gets to reminisce too, as all my ringtones are 80's theme tunes, different ones for different people... Jimbo And The JetSet, Ulysses 31, Button Moon, Thundercats, Dogtanian, Pigeon Street, Dungeons & Dragons... The list goes on, and changes occasionally
Bromcom_John Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Trapdoor... Cos there's something down there... "Burt.. where's my dinner"
GrumbleDook Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Part of me still longs for my early memories of kids tv ... the late 70's bringing me Jamie and the Magic Torch, I vaguely remember Pipkins, and we can't forget the re-runs of trumpton, camberwick green, Bod, Bagpuss, Mr Benn and the like.
Heebeejeebee Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Never mind all that - what about Earthworm Jim? I want it on DVD now !! :) HBJB
Ravening_Wolf Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Dogtanian Genius! My Dad (age 58!) used to watch it with me when I was a kid and he still hums the theme tune. I sent him the first 4 episodes on DVD 'cos they were on cheap at HMV once.
wesleyw Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Dogtanian can remember that the first and second screenings. As for Dungeons and Dragons I don't really want to watch that again as they never finished the series off! Wes
tomscaper Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 sounds like there are a few other people who are into the whole 80s cartoons thing, thought i was the only one lol. I have had this on pre-order for a while now, was annoyed when they said the release date was june. Have many other box sets as everyone has described above. Have about 400 videos under my bed, in my cupboard of cartoons, used to spend alot of time at car boot sale searching in box after box for anything i could find, sadly dont have the time to do that now, plus most come out on dvd. Made myself a website a longtime ago based on 80s cartoons, pretty basic but never kept it going or updated it that much. You cant beat the way cartoons used to be. Not the same now.
Scotmk Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 are you sure the car was red? Im thinking Knight rider How about "Automan" not quite a stolen car, but that was great, there are episodes on youtube. Just a thought! Ok, so maybe not really a cartoon, but that the only car ones I can remember.
maniac Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 You can actually already get the MCoG box set from HMV, been available for a few weeks now. Link here Of course I already have mine and very nice it is too!
