zag Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Ok worked it out, you can disable chat and emojis: Office 365 portal >> Settings >> service and Addins >> Microsoft Teams >> Change pull down to students >> Messaging >> Allow users to chat privately (disabled) Working very well in our school now. Especially after setting up SDS. 2

zag Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 We use ruler connect to push out profile pictures from sims once a week. I haven't noticed any problems with teams, I thought it used the same as office 365?
Tefters Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 (edited) Go into teams, either web or app as a student, click profile in bottom left and change picture. It doesn’t follow the same OWA restriction policies as everything else and the photo change filters back into office 365 from teams wiping out the fixed photo you set. For me that’s a show stopper as our kids would use all sorts of inappropriate images. Edited October 13, 2017 by Tefters

We don't do anything special to lock profile pictures down. Some kids change them. Very occasionally an image is deemed to be inappropriate. The teachers deal with it within the behaviour/sanctions systems with minimal involvement from IT. 1

mavhc Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I'll just stick to Classroom then, Teams seems like a unfinished hack on top of their slack clone, combined with sharepoint, which everyone hates, and onedrive, which tries to run exes from user folders, so is banned for being stupid.

It's a nice write up but reads like a Google Advocate looking at what features Teams has that Classroom has.

CliveFoster Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 TechMonkey. Thanks for the comments. Sure: I really like the feature that allows you to integrate other Cloud Storage vendors. That's really cool and would be a good addition to Classroom. It also has closer integration with the Video Conferencing side of things which is absent from Classroom but I'm sure that's driven from the business side not EDU. The collaboration side works pretty well and is on a par with GSuite in this situation. But the simple fact is that Classroom been in the field for three years now and has matured during that period, picking up features along the way and Teams is playing catchup - that's the reality of the situation.
