Clearing Windows Installer Folder

We have a PC which has a MEGA 33.7GB in it's \Windows\Installer folder, it's all .msp files

 

What's the best way of clearing all these down? It only has a 120GB SSD so i'd prefer it not to have a 1/4 of the drive taken up by unnecessary files!

 

Any help would be appreciated, had a look online and looks like lots of people saying lots of different things.

 

Any of you come across this before? how did you deal with it?

I use a program called patch cleaner - PatchCleaner - safely clean your windows installer directory | homedev - software development out of the box

 

Highly recommend the archive setting.

Have a look at PatchCleaner and also good old CCleaner.

Will have a look at that PatchCleaner, I've tried CCleaner but it didn't pick the 33GB up at all!

If you use Disk Cleanup (within Windows itself), you have the option of removing installer files.

I use PatchCleaner and also compress the folder (using NTFS compression) to save a little bit more space. i.e.

 

@echo off
compact /i /c /s:C:\Windows\Installer

Tried the 'PatchCleaner' and got 25GB back! That will do me, thanks guys
