itgeek Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Hi we have 7 servers in our school. The page file is different on all servers. For our Sims server we have 4gig of ram and the page file is set to 2gig. Please could somebody tell me what to set the page file to if we have 4gig of ram in our server? Should I let windows handle it or set it manual? Should I set memory usage for programs or system cache? Thanks
plock Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I've always let the system handle it. I've only experienced a couple of seconds speed increase when manually setting. Nothing major. 1

Michael Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Should I set memory usage for programs or system cache? Is the maximum page file 4gig I can set it?. Thanks You should set it to the System Cache. The only other thing I would say about servers and page files, is if you have multiple physical hard drives, split the page file equally across the drives.
plock Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 As Michael says, set it on the System Cache. He also has a very good suggestion of splitting it over multiple physical drives where possible.
