Not all of my Chromebooks are appearing on Impero as viewable thumbnails, with the majority not doing so.

We're currently running 6.0.76 of Impero, and am cruising by without their Tech Support until the School money tree starts bearing fruit!

After the upgrade to 6.0.76, I have updated the Chromebooks Application and Extension on the ChromeBooks with the Google Admin Console, with them now showing as installed correctly on all of the machines I have looked at.

I have three Chromebooks sat next to me currently, with only one appearing in the Impero Console. Comparing the three devices, they all have an IP address in the correct range, and all have the 2 Chrome apps installed correctly.

I have (what looks) the correct Firewall settings in Smoothwall, proven by the fact that I can see SOME Chromebooks. A firewall issue would have either shown all, or none, I believe. (Ports 30015-30020, 30016-30250, 49152 - 64000)

Any ideas? Its been driving me mad for a few weeks now!

Hi Steven,

I know this is an old post, but we are experiencing the same problems. We are on version 7.0.65. Impero keeps promising this issue will be fixed with each update and we have never seen that to be the case. Not sure if this is an application or network issue.

Hi @tdecker, sorry for the delay in replying, I have just seen this.

Did Impero manage to help you out?

The solution for us was the firewall rules in our Smoothwall, due to the jumping across 2 VLANS. While I was told it should not matter, I had to put the rules in 'twice', with the second the reverse of the first.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for this, I believe we have the firewall set correctly as we just double checked this yesterday. I'll have to look into putting the rules in twice. Is that basically just one rule for each direction? I do believe we have both in and out opened up for the correct ports.

Thanks,

Tony
