WordPress Hosting Recommendations

Hello,

 

Looking to get a new website setup for a Trust however want to avoid paying a design studio a bundle of money when I can pickup a WordPress template for fairly cheap.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations for WordPress hosts at all? not going to be possible to run in house so will need external hosting.

Do you need it to be managed or are you happy with console?

It may be worth looking at Amazon https://amazonlightsail.com/ or Azure Web Apps as they are okay for small things.

I woudnt use 1&1 very High User load per server, Give The Website People, thewebsitepeople.co.uk a look, they do enducation websites or just hosting we use them quite a lot, they will even set up wordpress for free on your server if you ask. Throwing another options in the ring - https://mythic-beasts.com.

 

They do a managed WordPress option but you'll be fine with the normal hosting. I have the shell extra then use wp-cli to auto-update. Mythic Beasts take care of the rest of the patching etc.

Just to say I do have personal hosting with them and I have had no real issues. The support is very fast and I have had replies out of normal hours several times.

I have 2 wordpress sites.One of them is hosted by ovh which on the plus side is very cheap, but on the downside they get quite a few complaints about customer service and any instructional videos are usually in French.My other wordpress site is hosted by unlimitedwebhosting which is not quite as cheap. But unlimited.

I had pretty bad experience with unlimited providers they oversell, services were down frequently since then I have never used unlimited provider. Presently with https://www.Webhost.uk.net , prices is reasonable with good uptime and support.

We have our 2 wordpress sites, main school and sixthform and they are hosted with Vidahost.

Personally use https://www.nativespace.com/. Had them for years and in the last 12 months moved to a Wordpress based site and cant fault them especially the customer services when I have had various issues requiring direct support.
