Hi All,

In one of the schools I support the Headteacher's PC in his office has suddenly decided it doesn't want to launch chrome. Logged on as another user and chrome works fine. So this obviously pointed me towards a profile issue, however after deleting the profile and deleting the corresponding registry entry. Still the same outcome.

Tried all the obvious things first like reinstalling chrome, using both online/offline installers, several reboots, Windows updates all up to date etc etc.

Im a bit confused to why it just won't work :(

Any help as always is greatly appreciated!

When logged on as administrator, are there any Chrome sessions running for any users? If there are end them in Task Manager and try The Head's user at that station again.

Thanks for the reply, however they are no chrome processes running in taskmgr, when I attempt to load chrome 3 of the processes appear in task manager for a few seconds then all disappear.

It seems like you have been through most of the options outlined here:

Link: Repair Chrome if it crashes or won't open [Google Chrome Help]

One that you might not have covered:

...Adjust your antivirus and check for malware

It's possible that either your antivirus software or unwanted malware is preventing Chrome from opening.

To fix, check if Chrome was blocked by antivirus or other software on your computer.

Next, learn how to get rid of problematic programs and block similar ones from getting installed in the future...

@DaveP - yeah also tried running a malwarebytes etc and nothing was found, Sophos has been disabled and still doesn't work :(

@Tesla - Thanks for the link will give that a go when I'm back in front of the Head's PC.

log the user out of chrome the go on the user server go to there documents folder find my setting in the folder you might have to kill the open file in the management side of this do this the delete the folder and this will work for you

then when you have done that change group policy to you the my setting to change this to the PC so then it will not affect your users
