We've got Sophos here, and we have no problems with it all!

 

We're in our 2nd year of a 5-year deal (which was taken out 18 months before we arrived at the job so not our doing) but yeah, so far no complaints.

We use F-Secure here -provided by the county.

I have opted to use the policy console vesion because I can control both what the PCs do and their installations remotely.

Been ok for me so far - update happen automatically and nobody notices the PCs being upgraded.

The only niggle is one of the modules in the setup priodically takes up to 60% of the CPU time and since this runs on a server everyone else suffers:(. Solved this by taking the application off main server.

Heads up for AVG Network Edt here. Moved to it last year. EDU gets 50% discount, and the licences are for 2 years.

 

Support is good, only needed it once so far, after version 8 updating was broken (proxy stuff was hard coded to use a specific port).

 

Works nicely and is quite lightweight. Also found another nice feature... marking .swf as a banned file type in email - so it strips out the flash games that the kids like sending eachother!

i have started using comodo anti virus and firewall, free to home and business use, but not central management yet.

 

good results so far.

We use Kaspersky. We had CA e-trust iTM (paid for by county). It is naff, so we paid for the new one ourselves. It has a very good and simple to manage at the network level for all clients, and includes mail filtering, firewall and all the usual goodies. Other schools using the "free" option have suffered virus attack since, losing their IT access for up to two days while CA sorted themselves out. Our Kaspersky desktop firewall simply reported the attempted automated hacks and stopped them.
