Zipsterr Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Anyone have any information that may help with this issue I have with 1 of the old projectors we have. Hitachi ED-A100 - The lens door seams to be stuck and will not shut - when we turn the projector onn (the door is open) you can hear the door trying its best to close but then we get a blue image and then the projector shuts down? Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?
pete Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I'd guess it's jammed/stripped gears in the mechanism that opens / closes the door. A replacement gearbox is ~£30 the last time I did one. Dismantling it's a bit of a faff, but it's straightforward. 1
Bob_the_Goon Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 This is a known issue with this model of projector. The door motor mechanism has failed and will need to be replaced. If your warranty has expired (which it probably has) you will either need to send it away for repair or repair it yourself. It takes approx 40 minutes to repair. The motor units cost approx £55. 1
NB9457 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 When this happened to one of our units where I used to work, I went into the settings and changed it so the door would always remain open, nice easy fix. 1
ITGURU Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 A known issue - we had one and just binned it as was getting old and they are massive !
Zipsterr Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 Thanks for your feedback all Yes unfortunately it is out of warranty! I will may have to send it off to get fixed any recommendations or would it be Hitachi who would perform the fix
