We had a few power cuts last night and its caused us a few problems.

The two domain controllers that we have we on a static ip and they have both changed and we cannot understand why.?

also we are running think clients over citrix and some clients work but others just wont connect to the network

can anyone answer why the whole rack seems to have gone crazy and changing ips and all the settings lke firewalls that we had turned off had all been restored

thanks

Do you switches have static IPs or are they DHCP?

If they've booted first (will be much quicker than a server) they could have self assigned the DC's IP addresses, causing them to switch.

WRT your issue of some devices connecting and not others, could it be that their switch died in the power spike?

Chances are that the device connection issue is more likely related to the server IP's changing and things like DNS, etc.. being up the spout or similar issues with DHCP. Likewise the firewall being back up, can't be helping.

I'd figure on fixing the server IP's and configuration again and then working back from there.

We've had a problem along the same sort of lines here.

Although not quite as severe.

We had our power go off (intentionally) over the last half term, since then, nothing but problems all over the place! :(.
