Had a similar issue with SCCM and GUID id's in the past but then it might be completely different... it does sound like a nuisance but net support is a much better product than impero, we have across 9 schools now and it's a godsend!

Hi, I saw this thread and thought that I would add a few comments on my experience of installing and running the application in a Hyper-V Remote Desktop Session Hosts scenario.

Upon initial install we could only see the display of the console connection '0' however an immediate update resolved this so that all sessions could be seen.

The deployment of the console and client was pain free and quick using the management console.

Post installation the systems have continued to function as expected with little requirements to contact support.

So it's using the MAC address, but picking the wrong one?

Sysprep does create unique Machine GUIDs afaik, although they're never used by Microsoft in a domain, so if someone cloned their machines without sysprep it probably wouldn't cause problems.

If you're in a domain wouldn't using the hostnames be best?

If the main NIC driver is being replaced with a virtual NIC that would have the same MAC address?

Just wanted to update out of courtesy to those who posted. We have hopefully sorted @Jawloms for his install of NetSupport DNA. Some valuable feedback and the team have streamlined the process for our next update so we will automatically identify virtual box (and others) and adjust are identification mode. It's not a regular issue but feedback was valid and justified, and as a result has driven an update for DNA 4.5.

Thanks to all those on the thread for both the constructive feedback and positive support ! Most of what we do is shaped by feedback from users, and long may that continue [emoji106]

@Al_NetSupport - Does that mean no more reg hacks as of the next version which is due in a few weeks?

Hi Al,

I've only just noticed that DNA doesn't report for us on the one lab where we use virtualbox too.

Is there any chance you can let me know the details of the reg fix please?

Cheers, eddyc

No problem @eddyc, happy to get one of the team to call you, please PM me your best contact details. In 4.50 ( due in a month) this will be an automatic detection to avoid the need to manually override with the registry change.

We are also at the edugeek event on Thursday too at the Science Museum so hope to catch up with plenty of Geeks for a chat and some freebies ;)

Thanks @Al_NetSupport for your help today! Support rang in a matter of minutes and emailed the instructions within the hour. All working beautifully now.

Looking forward to v4.50 too

:-)

Thanks again, eddyc
