Hi, I have a school of Hitachi CP-A222WN projectors.2 of them have started to shut themselves off after 3 minutes of use. I have cleaned the filter, hoovered them out, filter and machine. They did work when we left the filter and filter holder out completely for a few weeks now they have started to shut down again. The bulbs are around 3500 hours so they are well used but would changing the bulb fix it or does it shutting down mean there is a different problem to fix? I don't want to spend money on a bulb if the projector is broken. the Power light is solid, the temp light is solid red and the lamp light is off.

Thank you (my first year working in a school so lots to learn)

try swapping a lamp from a known working projector. It could be the lamp is starting to fail and as the projector recognises this it is shutting down as to protect the projector itself.

Thanks everyone for replying, it really helps. I've read the manual now and checked the lights it says- 'The interior portion has become heated'. Since changing the fan from normal to high it's stayed on. I've got a new bulb on order though and hoping a new bulb, filter and clean will sort it out. (I can always reuse the bulb in another projector if not)

Cheers,

Have you got the original paperwork from the purchase? (I realise you've only just started.)

Ours came with a 5 year hardware and bulb warranty, so you might get lucky. One of ours had to be returned at just over 3 years old with an overheating problem.
