unauthenticated Network - Help!!

Hi All

 

A school i maintain there computers will randomly stop connecting to the network they will get the orange warning sign on the network connection and when you hover over it, it says "unauthenticated Network" i have tried renewing the IP, re-joining domain etc the only way to get it working is to re image the computer.

 

A bit of info about the network

 

server 2008 R2

windows 7 clients 32 & 64bit both effected

flat network

Check logs to see if startup repair is launching and causing it to drop off the domain, if so and a rejoin doesn't work possible issue with the image?

 

Check DNS

Check windows firewall/AV

 

Do the clients stop receiving DHCP assigned addresses?

they still receive IP address's just unable to access network resourses

When you do ipcnifig /all does everything look as it should?

yeah thats whats so frustrating

It does sound like it's dropped off the domain, have you checked the logs on the DC to see if it show's any errors relating to this workstation(s)?

have you got any old Adobe CS software installed? Had this with bonjour service causing problems quite a while ago.

We have had this a few years ago, and it was found to be either an out of date or missing installation of Bonjour - try installing https://support.apple.com/kb/DL999?viewlocale=en_GB&locale=en_GB as a local admin, and see if that solves the issue.

If it is bonjour it won't be listed as bonjour in services but some strange numbered service - probably first one in list of services - you can try disabling and restarting to see if it fixes it
