Hello

I have been working on the Edugeek Joomla package for our school website for some time now. We will soon be ready to make it live. Currently it is at http://www.schoolname.co.uk/newsite. We want it to be at http://www.schoolsite.co.uk. Basically the directory will need moving.

How can I easily do this?

I have played and I can export the database from the old site, make a new installation and import the database form the old site to the new one. Then move images and the PHP files that I manually edited over to the new location.

Is there something more easier I can do please?

Thanks

You've listed two different domains above. Are you currently using the same host but different domains or is that a mistake?

Either way all you need to do is move the files from the newsite directory and put them in the root folder for schoolname.co.uk, the root folder will be where the index page is for this site assuming that there is already a website created for this domain.

You will not need to do anything to the database if it's on the same host. Just change the configuration.php file as described above.

Just double checking before I move a site from the subfolder its been created from. :)

I just need to move all files from

www.site.com/joomlatest

to

www.site.com

and then just edit configuration.php to change path names

Yes?

Simon

Yes. Your site should then work in the new location. If you've put any links on the site, in content, then you will need to change these too.

  • Thanks 1
