saggu Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Any primary school user of DB Primary Online Learning Cloud could tell me if their system is down? Anyone has their contact details? Many thanks
synaesthesia Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 (edited) Yes, they've been down for 2 days. I have had nothing but apologies from them. It's absolutely dispicable, especially on new intake day. One of my schools had all their letters go out to all parents yesterday asking them to email them. Email is office 365 but their DNS is managed by DB Primary. So, not only do they have no website and no VLE, they have no email either. There will be heads rolling. There is a service status page http://www.newera-checkstatus.co.uk/ Their contact number is 01273 201701 Edited April 20, 2017 by synaesthesia 1
synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Well, 08:30 on Friday and still no resolution. Absolutely unacceptable from *any* service provider. It would have taken them half a day to get all their customers on DNS services moved to an alternative provision, yet they still appear to be slogging away on their own problems first, not prioritising their client's needs.
fiza Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Confirmed - Our Primary School website has been down for the last 2 days. Its taking way too long for it to be rectified. 1
synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 They "hope to have a resolution by Monday" working 24/7. I can only assume by that *provisional* timescale that they have a single computer with a hamster wheel for power, and a 95 year old technician called Cyril who's working his blessed heart out, poking the already dead-hamster whilst muttering something about Babbage and new-fangled punch card machines.

Hopefully Cyril survives the weekend!
synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 My good god, have you seen their registered office? https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.8245055,-0.1430492,3a,85.2y,269.48h,88.12t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1VitVnKTwyzFORfp_4l9yA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!6m1!1e1 1

They are at No 125 and the restaurant is at 6b!!
synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Next door to the restauarant is 132 and their domain is registered to 130.
fiza Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Next door to the restauarant is 132 and their domain is registered to 130. ;)hmmm... On Google maps 2 doors away from the restaurant is "The Blue Man" cafe which is number 8. The office is actually on the other side of the road.
synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Hmm, I may well have been looking at a bad angle Well at least we know where they drew inspiration, probably over duck, hoisin sauce and thinking "What can we name a company"

synaesthesia Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Maybe we'll get compensation in the form of wonton soup and egg fried rice. 1
synaesthesia Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 Looks like they're back up and running. It'll take them quite a while to rebuild any sort of reputation. Poor disaster handling, awful communication, lack of resiliency.... 1
saggu Posted April 23, 2017 Author Posted April 23, 2017 Brilliant discussion folks. And thanks for the information. some schools has got a letter from them apologizing for the inconvenience. I got no intimation at all. Humm!!
synaesthesia Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 It'll take far more than an apology - any other time of the year and it wouldn't have been so bad, but when parents are desperately sending in all the relevant information for their children, schools have send hundreds of letters out costing stamps & time, all with contact details that are unreachable... 1
synaesthesia Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 ...Or not. No DNS still, so website & email still down for the school. Despite their service status saying everything is now running. Their twitter replies prove otherwise.
