Bedders Posted April 5, 2017 Posted April 5, 2017 Wonderful, been on it a bit this evening and have a decent start going. Thanks and looking forward to gaming alongside some of you 1
localzuk Posted April 5, 2017 Author Posted April 5, 2017 I would've been on if all the fields around here weren't in full bloom with rapeseed. My hay fever has gone haywire...
Bedders Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Thankfully my hayfever hasn't been too bad this year (yet) - although I may just be passing it off as the remainder of this cold from a couple of weeks ago. May have been on it until midnight... I'd forgotten how addicted I can get to Minecraft I'm going to be on again tonight, need to get some machines going - if I'm on after 10pm, yell at me
Jawloms Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Sorry - bit of a Minecraft newbie here. What do I download and where do I put it? All I can see is a server download, but I thought this was to join mc.edugeek.net, not setup another server? Thank you Stuart
Bedders Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Hi Stuart, Don't worry - there's no such thing as a stupid question! Here's a quick guide that should see you through: Download the Technic Launcher from https://www.technicpack.net/download - this is what you will open instead of Minecraft. Once it has downloaded, login using your Minecraft credentials (or Mojang credentials which is your email address - this will be most people) Now click on Modpacks at the top of the Launcher. There should be a search bar at the top-left of this page, above a list of commonly used modpacks. Into this search bar paste http://api.technicpack.net/modpack/the-1710-pack Now you should see an option to install The 1.7.10 Pack. Once it's downloaded and installed, click it from the menu on the left (still in the Modpacks tab of the launcher) and click Play. Now Minecraft itself should load. This may take a while on slower machines - there's a lot of mods in this pack! The Minecraft Menu will have changed from what you are used to on Vanilla. The process is still the same, however. Click on Multiplayer, then Add Server. Change the Name to "EduGeek Server" and into the Server Address bar (I think it's called) type mc.edugeek.net Now join! You need to have set your Minecraft Username in your profile here on Edugeek. Ensure you are logged in to Edugeek Click "Settings" in the top-right of any page From the menu on the left, click on "Edit Profile" Scroll down to the bottom and enter your Minecraft Username. Note that this is your Username, not your Email Address - log in to Mojang's website to confirm what this is if you're not sure. Hope this helps, good luck! 2
localzuk Posted April 6, 2017 Author Posted April 6, 2017 @Jawloms - on the page linked above, there is an "Install this modpack" link in the top right. This will explain how to install it. EDIT: Appears I have been beaten to the punch!! 2
bald_pig Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Did some wandering, found a village with a few goodies, including most of a smeltery! I've brought it back with me, we can organise a communal area for it to go?
Bedders Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Did some wandering, found a village with a few goodies, including most of a smeltery! I've brought it back with me, we can organise a communal area for it to go? I like the idea of a communal area - I'm working on creating a BigReactor at the moment and would be happy to donate it and any machines I have to the cause!
bald_pig Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 OK, if people are interested, send your co-ords and I'll work out the middle point
Bedders Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 OK, if people are interested, send your co-ords and I'll work out the middle point Round the corner from your house I think there's a desert village near where we are that might be a good start - it has (at least partial) walls.
bald_pig Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Round the corner from your house I think there's a desert village near where we are that might be a good start - it has (at least partial) walls. It's where the smeltery stuff was in the first place lol. I'm not sure if it's too good to use though, it's half flooded and has a hill going through it!
Bedders Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 It's where the smeltery stuff was in the first place lol. I'm not sure if it's too good to use though, it's half flooded and has a hill going through it! Hmm, fair enough - I'll take a proper look tonight. It's been a slow day, wish I could head home early. Just sat listening to the new Mike + the Mechanics album
localzuk Posted April 7, 2017 Author Posted April 7, 2017 I have now added a glass floor and ceiling to my primary ravine space. So, no accidental falling to my doom when I am using my smeltery.
Bedders Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 New large reactor sorted. Have fun Control rods are set to 80% or 90% depending on whether you want energy to be stored in the reactor or not. 1
jedmondson Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Well I managed to login last night. I am camped out in a sand village but will move to everyone else's location next time I'm logged in
localzuk Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 Just restarted the server - something was causing it to lag so much that I couldn't connect.
localzuk Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 Actually, having to roll back to last backup - it is 120k ms behind and can't process anything... Who built what new thing last?
localzuk Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Hmm... we have an issue. The lag goes back to our oldest backup (as it appears the default with this pack is 2 backups over an hour). EDIT: I have narrowed it down to @ADMaster's Mining World base. Edited April 8, 2017 by localzuk
ADMaster Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 The last thing I built was an animal farmer. When I was online last it had not bred anything. Did it go crazy and spawn a ton of sheep? Can you run commands from the server console without being logged in as a player. Kill all the sheep in that dimension?
localzuk Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 The last thing I built was an animal farmer. When I was online last it had not bred anything. Did it go crazy and spawn a ton of sheep? Can you run commands from the server console without being logged in as a player. Kill all the sheep in that dimension? Ah, that helps. Am looking at that now. Not so easy it appears.
localzuk Posted April 8, 2017 Author Posted April 8, 2017 Ok, killed mobs etc... made no difference. Gonna take the server down and try again tomorrow.
Bedders Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 (edited) I have a reactor and quarry there but that's been running for a couple of days. We have sorting systems into JABBA Barrels (using opaque itemduct to prevent lag) and a Progressive Automation chopper with a range of 3 - so I don't think it's excessive tree farming (Yes, I have killed servers before with tree farms. Once made a Redwood tree farm using MineFactory Reloaded.... ONCE...) Usually backup programs run every half an hour but only if players have been online. I can't think of anything else that's been modified in the last couple of days. What error was on the console or was it just 'Unable to keep up'? EDIT: Just to note that ADMaster kindly allowed me to hijack part of his base Edited April 9, 2017 by Bedders
localzuk Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 I'm looking at it again now. Got some profiling mods installed and MCEdit at the ready. 1
localzuk Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 OK. Problem blocks located and removed. Uploading fixed world now. Should have the server back up shortly.
