Announcing the next EduGeek Minecraft server - The 1.7.10 Pack!

1710pack.png

Server address: mc.edugeek.net

The 1.7.10 Pack can be downloaded via the Technic Platform

We are using the recommended release, version 0.9.4

Have fun!

As always, to be whitelisted on the server, please visit your Profile on the site and add you Minecraft username to the field there.

The server updates the whitelist every 6 hours. It can also be updated manually if you PM me and I'm around to do it.

Thankfully my hayfever hasn't been too bad this year (yet) - although I may just be passing it off as the remainder of this cold from a couple of weeks ago.

May have been on it until midnight... I'd forgotten how addicted I can get to Minecraft

I'm going to be on again tonight, need to get some machines going - if I'm on after 10pm, yell at me :decision:

Sorry - bit of a Minecraft newbie here. What do I download and where do I put it? All I can see is a server download, but I thought this was to join mc.edugeek.net, not setup another server?

Thank you

Hi Stuart,

Don't worry - there's no such thing as a stupid question! :)

Here's a quick guide that should see you through:

  1. Download the Technic Launcher from https://www.technicpack.net/download - this is what you will open instead of Minecraft.
  2. Once it has downloaded, login using your Minecraft credentials (or Mojang credentials which is your email address - this will be most people)
  3. Now click on Modpacks at the top of the Launcher.
  4. There should be a search bar at the top-left of this page, above a list of commonly used modpacks. Into this search bar paste http://api.technicpack.net/modpack/the-1710-pack
  5. Now you should see an option to install The 1.7.10 Pack.
  6. Once it's downloaded and installed, click it from the menu on the left (still in the Modpacks tab of the launcher) and click Play.
  7. Now Minecraft itself should load. This may take a while on slower machines - there's a lot of mods in this pack!
  8. The Minecraft Menu will have changed from what you are used to on Vanilla. The process is still the same, however.
  9. Click on Multiplayer, then Add Server. Change the Name to "EduGeek Server" and into the Server Address bar (I think it's called) type mc.edugeek.net
  10. Now join!

You need to have set your Minecraft Username in your profile here on Edugeek.

  1. Ensure you are logged in to Edugeek
  2. Click "Settings" in the top-right of any page
  3. From the menu on the left, click on "Edit Profile"
  4. Scroll down to the bottom and enter your Minecraft Username. Note that this is your Username, not your Email Address - log in to Mojang's website to confirm what this is if you're not sure.

Hope this helps, good luck!

@Jawloms - on the page linked above, there is an "Install this modpack" link in the top right. This will explain how to install it.

EDIT: Appears I have been beaten to the punch!!

Did some wandering, found a village with a few goodies, including most of a smeltery! I've brought it back with me, we can organise a communal area for it to go?

I like the idea of a communal area - I'm working on creating a BigReactor at the moment and would be happy to donate it and any machines I have to the cause!

OK, if people are interested, send your co-ords and I'll work out the middle point

Round the corner from your house :)

I think there's a desert village near where we are that might be a good start - it has (at least partial) walls.

It's where the smeltery stuff was in the first place lol. I'm not sure if it's too good to use though, it's half flooded and has a hill going through it!

Hmm, fair enough - I'll take a proper look tonight. It's been a slow day, wish I could head home early. Just sat listening to the new Mike + the Mechanics album :)

New large reactor sorted. Have fun :) Control rods are set to 80% or 90% depending on whether you want energy to be stored in the reactor or not.

Hmm... we have an issue. The lag goes back to our oldest backup (as it appears the default with this pack is 2 backups over an hour).

EDIT: I have narrowed it down to @ADMaster's Mining World base.

The last thing I built was an animal farmer. When I was online last it had not bred anything. Did it go crazy and spawn a ton of sheep?

Can you run commands from the server console without being logged in as a player. Kill all the sheep in that dimension?

Ah, that helps. Am looking at that now. Not so easy it appears.

I have a reactor and quarry there but that's been running for a couple of days. We have sorting systems into JABBA Barrels (using opaque itemduct to prevent lag) and a Progressive Automation chopper with a range of 3 - so I don't think it's excessive tree farming (Yes, I have killed servers before with tree farms. Once made a Redwood tree farm using MineFactory Reloaded.... ONCE...)

Usually backup programs run every half an hour but only if players have been online.

I can't think of anything else that's been modified in the last couple of days. What error was on the console or was it just 'Unable to keep up'?

EDIT: Just to note that ADMaster kindly allowed me to hijack part of his base :)
