Timmalloy Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I am currently looking at the use of ICT to support teaching and learning. I was hoping to be able to visit some schools to view their SMART boards in use and any use of ipads / Microsoft technology. We are a new build which was designed for technology (by a non teacher) now we are a new SLT looking to completely revamp it being student / teacher led to support teaching and learning. Amy advice or support greatly appreciated.
SHimmer45 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 if given the choice i woudnt not use them and would be looking at LCD panels as the newer boards are nothing but aggro. its a tech which to an extent has had its day and the market has moved to touch LCD panels etc

I can't remember the last time I saw any of the software features of SMART (or ACTIV) being used beyond different types of pen.
supawat1 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I would agree with SHimmer45 comment. Our school is moving slowly changing each year group Smart boards to Interactive Touch Screen. It's not just the technology that it can offer, but also the running cost is much lower than having Smart board + Projector combined. Installation of the screen is much quicker as well.
SHimmer45 Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 the software for smart is also a bloated mess last time i looked it had grown to over 1GB
