ajp233 Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Been in touch with a school who are migrating from SIMS to Bromcom. They have given Bromcom a backup of their SIMS DB, but Bromcom are having trouble with it as the SIMS DB is a Spring (v7.174) release and Bromcom say they are only set up to migrate data from the Autumn release (v7.172). They have asked the school for a copy of the SIMS installer for v7.174? That can't be right can it? What would Capita say if they know Bromcom were asking for copies of the installers? And how the hell have Bromcom updated their copy of SIMS in the past??

That means they should be able to get the update through normal channels like everyone else! I would suggest that maybe this may be a single engineer not going through the proper channels at Bromcom to get their issue sorted. 1
vikpaw Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 They definitely can't give copies of software outside the organisation. @localzuk is correct if Bromcom are legitimately extracting data from SIMS they should have an agreement to have their own test setup and access to updates. Otherwise, i would expect them to work off the live data. Either exports, or talking directly to the school's server. I wouldn't want to do a migration with out of date data, so at some point they will need to work with the live system.
Bromcom_Jay Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hey everyone - just miscommunication, Bromcom are a technical partner with SIMS and have been for many years. We are still waiting for the installers from SIMS for the Spring update and every day we wait for SIMS to give us the installers the migration is delayed for the school, so we got in contact with the school and the local authority to try and speed things up. We should have this all sorted now. Jay
PhilNeal Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Bromcom renewed their partnership arrangement this week!!
