nicholab Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I added an operating system installer but I can't work out how and earth you get the capture and deploy routine to work. The task will not see operating system installers it just see operating system images also is is possible to deploy an operation system install instead of a image.
northernmike Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 some excellent guides here https://www.windows-noob.com/forums/topic/4045-step-by-step-guides-system-center-2012-r2-configuration-manager/
nicholab Posted March 22, 2017 Author Posted March 22, 2017 Still cant see how I can select an operation system installer rather than a wim file?
DalekSec Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 You need to create a wim, (well thats the way i've known how to do it). My usual practice is to create a image how i want it and then use SCCM to capture the image which in turn creates the Wim which you add to the Task sequence
Arthur Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Still can't see how I can select an operation system installer rather than a wim file? http://windowsitpro.com/configuration-manager/sccm-2012-sp1-os-installer-packages Q: I'm trying to create a build and capture task sequence in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1, but it can't see the Operating System Installer Package. Why not? A: Microsoft made a change between Configuration Manager 2012 RTM and Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 related to how the build and capture a reference operating system image task sequence works. In 2012 RTM the task sequence wizard allows an Operating System Installer to be selected; this is no longer the case in 2012 SP1. In 2012 SP1, the actual image (WIM file) is required, which needs to have been imported to Operating System Images in order to be selected. The reasoning for this change was possible conflicts between Windows PE and Windows setup versions. Using an Operating System Image instead of an Operating System Installer provides a more consistent and supported experience.
nicholab Posted March 23, 2017 Author Posted March 23, 2017 Thank you so much I am in the process of doing a quick install. I have imported the OS installer and deploy it with a modified copy of the current task for the 32bit machines.
