Laptop refurb query

I have some HP Compaq laptops

Presario CQ57 which are i3 , 64bit, 4GB ram (useable 3.something)

Compaq 616 - 64bit 3GB AMD Athlon DualCore QL-66

 

Staff complain that they are slow to use and they end up giving them back to me.. I want to recyle them and send them back out as I think (especially the Presarios) are not that bad. Questions I have are:

 

Can they have SSD's put in ( and will this make them faster?) , not sure if the RAM can be upgraded any more than it is already. Also, Am missing pretty much all the chargers ( keep cycling the ones I do have)

 

Any ideas much appreciated

SSd's will make them run like brand new machines!

SSDs & a fresh install will make a world of difference here.

 

RAM will only make a difference if you have a 64 bit image ready to go, though to be honest the CPUs in both are old and a little under powered so it might not make a whole lot of difference.

yes will make them faster,

Do one and give to a user and see how you get one,

We did the same with CQ61's

We've put SSD's in our 3yr old Dell's. Makes a big difference.

Yes - SSDs are all you need, 4GB ram is fine.

 

Once you slap a 128 or 256GB SSD in there - BOOM super fast laptops!!!

SSD's are fantastic and the machine will be A LOT quicker. Make sure you check the R/W speeds though.... not all drives are created equal.
