DFS Intermittent Mapping

I've been mapping drives for 13 years using straight forward UNC path mapping to the server and share name and never had any issues with drives not being mapped at login.

I've now decided to switch to DFS and every so often I get users coming to the office saying that they are missing network drives.

A log off and back on usually makes the drives appear, but surely this shouldn't be happening?

 

if anything the mapping should be more reliable when i've got all 3 AD servers acting as a DFS namespace server..?

 

Any ideas/help be appreciated. I don't like niggly intermittent issues.

Have you tried using \\domain.school for your mapping ? rather than \\domain.local or \\server\foldershare$

 

Could be very slow replication between 3 servers ?

 

Have you used any networking to see any interruptions ?

I am using a CNAME to avoid a FQDN. Resetting roaming profile seems to cure it
