ipconfig /release - rookie error

So silly of me. I am working remotely on a test Windows 10 station. Having some local DNS issues, have just entered in the command ipconfig /release

.... I am on using RDC. What a complete idiot.

 

Does anyone know if it will try renewing after a predefined period or do I need to call someone up and ask them to pull the plug on it and restart it?

I'm not sure if it will on its own but disabling/re-enablng the network port on the switch it is attached to might encourage that behaviour

Thanks, don't think I will be able to work out it's respective port no, unless I reboot the whole switch, but that would cause a bit of disruption for others.

Problem solved,

I telephoned the site manager who helpfully bounced the computer for me. What would we do without those guys?!

Too late now (I've only just had chance to test this) but unplugging the network cable and plugging it back in again does reconnect a computer to the network. Just for anyone who comes across this thread

And also the correct command is "ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew" for anyone else wondering what went wrong
