snagrat Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Does anyone know the standard warranty that is included with a Surface Book whether it is onsite? I can't find anything which states if it is or not.

I can't find anything which states if it is or not. Typically the warranty is limited to the hardware and for only 1 year from purchase. It looks like it's offsite as well going by https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-gb/support/security-sign-in-and-accounts/data-wiping-policy Edited February 20, 2017 by DJ-1701
MrKJLS Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 When I sent my surface 3 to be fixed, I had to send it off. But it looks like they replace the units as I got mine back 2-3 business days later and it had a new serial number...
john Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 RTB 1 Year warranty and if there is sign of accidental damage you are not covered... They are from looking online basically a non-repairable unit which would probably explain the new SN when you got yours back @MrKJLS, I suspect only the display could be replaced easily in such a quick time but even that sounds a PITA from the dismantling forums.
Arthur Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 (edited) Typically the warranty is limited to the hardware and for only 1 year from purchase. FWIW, although Dell and HP don't resell the Surface Book, they do resell the Surface Pro 4 and offer a wider range of warranties for that device (upto 4 years for both the Surface Pro and battery in addition to accidental damage cover). e.g. www.dell.com/uk/business/p/surface-pro-4-tablet/pd The Surface Pro 4 comes with a one-year Base Warranty with the ability to extend up to 4 years, including battery coverage up to 4 years. For additional support, choose from ProSupport, ProSupport with Accidental Damage, and Configuration and Deployment Services. ProSupport Let us make hardware and software support easy. Dell ProSupport offers 24x7 access to in-region ProSupport engineers who have deep knowledge and the tools needed to keep PCs and tablets productive, next business day advanced unit exchange and 3rd party software support. ProSupport with Accidental Damage Service ProSupport with Accidental Damage Service is ideal for today’s mobile workforce with a single source for hardware and software support, plus coverage for accidental drops, spills, and breaks. john Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 You can get plans from Microsoft for the Surface Books (as I've just had details as I'm looking at geting a couple) https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-gb/business/completeforbusiness Is the full details, I assume Edu comes under Business as they don't seem to have an Edu list its home or business.
